Tips from the community on getting started ๐
+ more opportunities to hang out together and get prepared
Hello, friends!
Thanks to everyone who shared their tips for getting started โ I picked a few of my favorites below. Common themes:
simplify, simplify, simplify!
have a range of options for what โcountsโ
choose some constraints
do what you can to reduce decision fatigue
Advice is mixed on whether or not to be specific in your theme; Iโve seen the project work both ways so pick what works for you.

Or you can do what Shay Michelle does! Shay says, โI do my cheeky version of the project that I like to call โThe Pretend 100 Day Project.โ Every year, I would watch everyone creating all of these amazing pieces for 100 days, knowing I would never do anything that consistently except, let's be honest, brush my teeth or eat chocolate. So instead of feeling left out, I made up my version. One that is super low stakes, has no pressure, and is reminiscent of the days I might've earned an honorable mention ribbon, like I used to do in the Texas State Fair. Maybe I can participate then, right? So I did. I made art for some days, not all the days, and not perfectly. I'm sure I gave up less than halfway. And you know what? I still learned a ton, had fun, and felt like I was a part of the community anyway. I plan on doing it again this year for the third time. I highly recommend doing The 100 Day Project; only maybe you do it "pretend style" and get your honorable mention ribbon, too. You can do that here if you want to read more about it.โ
I love it. Truly โ the rules are made up, so make up rules that work for you!
Iโve been answering questions from the community over on Instagram and a lot of folks said they missed the first workshop on how to design your project and asked if we can do it again. We sure can! Weโll meet later this week. (ICYMI: the project starts February 23).
And we also have the workshop on how to document and share your project โ I had so much fun putting this one together. I pulled dozens of ideas and examples, for different skill and effort levels so that thereโs something for everyone.
Thereโs three essential components to participating in #The100DayProject: doing, documenting, and sharing. Doing is the first and most important step, but documenting and sharing are important too. Both workshops are sliding scale and will be recorded if you canโt join us live. Iโd love to see you there โ itโs so fun to gather together!
XO,
Lindsay

Iโve seen a lot of comments about the sharing aspect. And hereโs my unsolicited two cents lol.
Last year I didnโt share at all - it was a personal journal project - but I was accountable to my partner. This year I am taking a social media pause so I have a friend who I will share a photo with everyday via text while Iโm not on IG.
Iโve done the projects a lot of years now and I think we put up our own road blocks sometimes. The rules are made up! Donโt let one part stop you if youโre excited about your project.
Ok, I love the idea of "pretend style" :)
