I'm basically ready. The later start in February actually is a good thing for me. Gets me past most of my early in the year commitments, that tend to interfere. March has a couple, but there is time to work out the logistics.
Super! I plan to resubscribe again soon but wanted to make sure it didn't matter which order I did things in (registered then resubscribed or the other way around). Thank you for making things simple!
Has anyone shared their projects using Substack's note feature? I'm experimenting with sharing my work here more. I suppose we wouldn't have hashtags to find each other though.
Thatβs an interesting idea! I get notified for some of them, but Iβm not really familiar with how search works for the note feature β will have to look into that. Iβve tried using chat but it didnβt really catch on with the community. Could try again though!
The flip side of tagging the host in this new world of weakened hashtags on IG, is that to see other peopleβs contributions you have to visit the host account and looked at the tagged posts there. Itβs reduced the ability to enjoy other peopleβs contributions in your regular βfeedβ a lot - so it seems a lot less people are participating in challenges since they donβt get all the likes and comments as they used to.
I totally agree β I do what I can to share as much as possible, but we get tagged so much that I couldn't possibly see every post. And on a larger level, I don't like what this means for people to be able to self-organize and connect. Hashtags gave us some power to influence what we see and who from, it feels like it's all top-down now.
Oh I get it, I didnβt mean I expected you as the host to like everything tagged to you, but that other participants need to be encouraged to visit the host account to like and interact with other posts. Or else participants will not get to see other peopleβs contributions if they just stay and watch their own feed.
Totally! I get what you meant and I agree β ideally youβd be able to easily find each and connect separately from (or in addition to) the project account. Itβs a bummer what theyβve done with hashtags.
I'm so excited, I felt the need to share, as it clears the final hurdle for this years project. In seeking for inexpensive (I mean REALLY inexpensive) supports for my little paintings, I hit the jackpot. Initially I was going to prime, press, and cut watercolour paper, but with my time being really tight the next couple weeks I was concerned about being ready.
But thanks to a small army of fellow artists and craftspersons, I found a seller of 6x6 inch wood panels, sanded and ready to prime at $0.50 per tile. They will be here w/in the week. That subject (genre), palette, and support. A project trifecta.
If I canβt do the workshop on February 7, can I watch the replay?
Great question, Nela! Yes! This one is recorded and will be sent to participants after the workshop :)
Perfect! Thank you very much for replying.

I'm glad to hear it!
Are there still discounts on events for paid subscribers?
Hey Valerie! I found it was easier and more accessible just to make the events sliding scale :)

I'm so glad, thank you Valerie!
I can't wait. I have to choose what I want to do now

Is there a work around that doesn't require hashtags?

Iβm so glad!! We love a win! Congrats, Andrew!
All signed up. Iβm looking forward to this. I need help with selecting ONE project out of numerous that are swirling around in my head.
We can do that! ππ
Thank you. Itβs on my calendar and Iβm excited!
