Hi Ant, this is your first prompt. They’ll come to your inbox every day just after midnight pacific and you can always see theme here at The100DayProject.substack.com as long as you’re signed into your account. There was a welcome post and explained video a couple of days ago. https://the100dayproject.substack.com/p/welcome-to-the-daily-creative-prompts

Ah, okay. I thought the prompts were like a word or something (similar to inktober etc), do you mean it’s more like a motivational thing?

It’s a range and each week will have a theme. But they won’t be telling you what to do for your project. People have very different projects so that’s not really feasible to have something that would apply to everyone. The spirit of the project is that your actual creative work is self-guided. The prompts are meant to help and encourage you in your process.

Yep, I understand all that, I just thought that there was actual prompts and I was missing something. Thanks for letting me know.

OK, so my day one post was fraught with challenges. It was very frustrating to learn that Instagram doesn’t recognize looped photos from iPhone iPhone no longer gives you the option to save looped photos as videos as it did before 16.1. and I learned that no matter how I try to format my poem and it will just put it out there like in a blob so my plan this year was to do a poetry piece and a photo or video every day and I’m pretty frustrated about that and also I’ve looked up the hashtags after and I don’t even appear anywhere at all in any of the versions of hastagsof the 100 day project.weirdly not even my own name 100 day project. You can’t see what I did on any of them. Very disappointing.

Bummer, Deidra! My husband Jeff and I are both doing #TheHundredDayProject and were lamenting how frustrating we find Instagram! He deleted it from his phone, he got so fed up with feeds that don’t interest him while not knowing how to do basic stuff.

Good luck getting recentered on your project and what you want to do with it. Dang technology!

Thanks docpatti! I appreciate your support!🙂❤️

Hey Deidra! I had a frustrating Day 1 too and I lead the project 😂. I didn’t follow my own good advice to do a trial run. And that’s ok! You might just have to make a new plan for how to share. Let this first week especially be time to experiment and find what works for you. It’s just the first day — you don’t have to have it all perfected yet!

And there were many thousand posts today — that’s not unusual to not see your post at the top. It doesn’t mean no one else saw it or will never see it. Just keep going!

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate the wisdom, how did I not know this : a trial run, doh! Thanks for the sage advice, just keep going 🙂

Deidra, when I look at Instagram on my computer, I can never search for my recent posts via the #. But when I do a search using the #'s on the Instagram app on my phone, near the top, it gives me the options of Top, Recent, or Reels. When I select Recent, I always find mine.

I intend to make art every day for 100 days within the theme of Birds & Botanicals. I live in a lovely setting with a (very small) lake and a wetland in immediate view, with blue heron, green heron, killdeer, hawk, and hooded Mergansers. Fantastic grasses, trees, and flowers. So, lots of source material, plus a video course on drawing birds from the Cornell Ornithology folks who do the Merlin app. I plan to work with watercolor, acrylic, and ink. Paper, canvas, and artist trading cards. Maybe some collage. Wish me luck!

I intend to sketch every day to improve my skills! I'm also writing on substack and doing other creative hobbies like playing the flute, reading, and language learning. My priority for the 100dayproject will be sketching. I've missed the start date but I can't wait to join 🙂

I’m starting today because last week was snow days galore and I’m a solo mom of 3 rambunctious boisterous bodacious kids that needed me too goof off in the snow with them.

I have a question though. I’m totally new to this, and new to my art form I’m trying (art journaling).

Is it best to start a dedicated Instagram for the project, or to use my personal one?

Thank you!

My intention: to be more creative this year than the last, to embrace my own imperfections, only rise to the challenge of being better than I was yesterday and enjoy the ride.

For the next 100 days (and more) I aim to sketch a variety of jewellery designs, without a theme, for fun and for inspiration. I might make some up along the way, I might not. I find inspiration in nature, so that might pop in, but I don’t want to constrain myself. It would be nice to have some new designs at the end of the 100 days, but it’s not essential. I really just want to explore and see where it takes me.
