Welcome to the daily creative prompts 💌
a little about how it works + let's all introduce ourselves
Hello, friends!
Welcome to the daily creative prompts. Here’s a little about how it works:
Starting the first day of the project on February 23rd, you’ll receive an email every day for 100 days (it comes out just after midnight Pacific time).
Each Sunday, we’ll introduce a new theme and then we’ll spend the rest of the week exploring this theme. Thanks to all of you, we have a LOT of guest contributors this year! I’m excited to bring in more and new voices.
On Fridays, you’ll get a self-care exercise – making is inherently a physical/mental/emotional/spiritual thing, we simply must take care of ourselves!
Saturdays we send a Creative Play exercise – these are make or do than think. You might find it fun to do with a friend, your kids, or someone here in the community. Note that some of these take longer than the weekday prompts. You might try to bookmark a little extra time on the weekend for these, or just do them at the level/time you have.
I highly recommend getting a notebook to journal in – it’s so helpful to keep a dedicated place where you write or doodle by hand. Think about what it will feel like to look back at 100 days just a couple of months from now! And to have a place where you kept all of your thoughts about your process and ideas?! AMAZING!
(Side bar: what’s your favorite notebook? I really love these lay flat ones from Midori but I’m always game to try something new if you have a recommendation to share in the comments!).
The important thing is to do your project. Trust yourself and trust the process. There’s a lot of good stuff here to support you as you do your project and learn more about your unique process, some parts might resonate with you more than others. That’s ok. More than ok! It’s totally normal. Think about how when you go to a restaurant and you tell the server, “I’m thinking about the pasta or the salmon” and the waiter says, “Oh, the salmon is my favorite!” And all of the sudden you realize you absolutely do not want the salmon. Sometimes our “NO” just as informative as our yeses (or even louder!). In other words – use it! Think about why you disagree or come back and share a different point of view. There are also 500+ past posts you have access to if you need something different. You can always find them here if you’d like to look around:
