Lindsay Stripling on getting curious and finding ways to play 🎧
next steps for your project coming soon
Hello, friends!
How did your dream creative project list go? Any ideas you want to share in the comments? We’ll be back in a few days with next steps on how to narrow it down (and there’s just a few spots left in the workshop on Friday if you’d like to join).
Today we’re back with Episode 3 of the podcast – my guest this week is
, an artist and illustrator whose work explores themes of nature, community, psychology and more. In her words, she “likes to keep it playful.” (Me too! How about you?) Lindsay is also a teacher and in addition to her own workshop offerings – which I have taken and recommend! – is an adjunct professor of illustration at California College of the Arts.We talk about the power of writing things down and coming back to them later, fun ways to stack habits so that we actually show up to do the things we know we want and need (like make art and move our bodies), and more.
Insights from the episode:
We have to train ourselves to seek the things we really want – how do we move through the discomfort?
We can build the muscle of our intuition and sense of self by doing more personal creative work
We’re artists, but we’re also human – the things that nurture us as humans also nurture us as artists
“I find that my best, as a creative and my best as a teacher and my best as a partner when I find a way to infuse curiosity and fun into whatever I'm doing.” – Lindsay Stripling

I’m also excited to share that Lindsay will be one of our guest contributors to the daily creative prompts this year – I love her unique way of being encouraging while keeping it grounded and real. I think you will too.
